I have particular interests in
Loss, bereavement, and grief

We all experience loss or endings at some time in our lives, it could be loss of a job, our health, or relationships. When we experience the death of a loved one, the grief we feel can impact both our physical and emotional wellbeing. It can be profound, excruciatingly painful; it can come with guilt, anger, and regrets. For some, it may bring relief or trigger unresolved trauma. There is no timescale or set ‘pattern’ for grief, everyone grieves differently.

I will sit alongside you in your grief, I will not rush you, I will listen empathically giving you the time and space to reflect, share your thoughts and feelings in a welcoming and safe environment.
Childhood Trauma and Trauma
I have a special interest in childhood trauma and the impact it can have on us as adults. Childhood trauma can occur when a child witnesses or experiences an overwhelming event e.g. neglect, sexual abuse, or medical trauma. It could also be a result of repetitive bullying, emotional ‘threats’ from a parent/carer e.g. “It’s your fault if I am not here when you get home from school”, loss of a parent either through separation or bereavement. The list of events and experiences that cause childhood trauma is not exhaustive.

I am glad that you have found your way here as taking the first step to getting therapy can be difficult. Contact me in whichever way feels most comfortable for you, you can be assured of a friendly welcome.
Anxiety, stress and depression
Anxiety is when we worry about what might happen, depression can be the result of what we have experienced. Stress can be the trigger for anxiety and/or depression.
I can support you with strategies to help you manage your anxieties and explore what the triggers may be.
Depression can be triggered by an event such as loss, divorce, or childhood trauma. It is an illness which can bring a lot of shame and it can be difficult to talk. I will offer you the time and a safe space to talk at a pace that fits for you.
I offer outdoor therapy, being outdoors is a great way to support your emotional well being whilst we work together.
Separation and divorced
Separation and divorce can be a painful, messy, exhausting, scary, and anxious time. It can trigger a multitude of feelings including guilt, anger, confusion, and relief. Your experience is unique to you.
I will sit alongside you, giving you a safe space and the time for you to explore your experiences and feelings, whatever they may be for you.

Self-esteem and self confidence
When we are born, we adjust to ‘fit’ within our family. Sometimes these adjustments can ‘stick’ and yet as adults they may hold us back.

By exploring your way of being in the world we can consider how these ‘adjustments’ may have served you well in the past and the impact of them on you in the here and now.

Your newfound understandings will offer you new pathways which can lead to a positive impact on your self-esteem and confidence.
Domestic violence and abuse
I have both personal and professional experience of both Domestic Violence and Abuse, thankfully it is a subject that is now becoming more recognised though I still feel there is a long way to go.

I have previously worked with families whose lives have been impacted by both Domestic Violence and Abuse. I work with male and female victims. For some individuals, it becomes a way of being, their normal, and a pattern that can repeat in different relationships.

I have supported clients to talk about their experiences they have endured. Sometimes, they may not realise the extent of the abuse as the perpetrator has manipulated them to believe it is their (victims) fault, this is now recognised as coercive control.

I will support you to feel safe, valued, and understood in your experiences.
