Counselling and Therapy

Thank you for visiting my website. I thought I would write a little bit about myself and how I came to be a psychotherapeutic counsellor.

I did not consciously set out to have a career as a Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I have a history of many years working both in industry, education whilst bringing up my own family.

Whilst working in education I supported families and I began studying for a Certificate in Therapeutic Skills for Schools. Whilst completing the Certificate I gained a curiosity of how we relate in our own unique way.

Completing the Certificate left me with a thirst for more understanding and having dipped in and out of therapy at different points in my life it felt natural to continue my studies. Little did I know at the point, where my path would take me.

During my training, I completed several years of personal therapy, this gave me great insight into my own way of being and opened new choices for me both personally and professionally. I experienced how challenging therapy can be and the immense personal rewards it can bring. I am passionate about what I do and believe that therapy and counselling should be accessible to all.

I have several years experience of working for Iaptus (NHS Counselling Service) and a charity based in York. My time is now focused on providing sessions in my private therapy rooms in Market Weighton. I also enjoy sharing my skills and knowledge with educational staff and volunteers by offering short bespoke training courses tailored to their specific needs.
