Ways I Work

I work relationally which means I am interested in what happens between us when we are together. This can help to give meaning to how you relate in the world. I have an interest in working creatively e.g. sand tray work, working with clay, drawing, and storytelling. I am flexible and open to your ideas of how you may be comfortable in working.

I offer four different ways of ‘being together’, they are; telephone, online (e.g. Zoom), face to face in my therapy room, and outdoors.

Telephone Counselling/Therapy

I started to offer this during Covid-19 lockdown and it is proving a great way to gain support. Some people have found that they prefer to talk over the phone, they find it easier to bring what they need to when we are not in a room together or see each other. I have had feedback from clients saying that they have surprised themselves at how beneficial telephone counselling/therapy has been for them. I will call you on either your mobile or landline, whichever is easier for you. You will need to be in a private space where you feel comfortable, safe, and not disturbed.

Online Counselling/Therapy

Using online platforms such as Google meet and Whereby can be more convenient for some people and has proved popular through Covid-19. I will send you an invite to the session, all you need to do is download the app and click on the link sent. The meeting is password protected and once we are together in the ‘room’, I am able to secure the session by ‘locking’ it.   As with all virtual communication I cannot guarantee total security, however, I will ensure that I do all that I can to protect your privacy whilst online together.  You will need to be in a private space where you feel comfortable, safe, and not disturbed.

Face to Face

I offer face to face sessions in my private therapy room in Market Weighton.

Face to face is the traditional way of working. Market Weighton is within easy reach of Hull, York, Driffield, and Beverley. Many clients still prefer this more traditional way of working and I am now able to offer it once again with sensible precautions in place e.g. the room is well ventilated, we will sit 2 metres apart and I sanitise the room between appointments. Being face to face allows for greater freedom to work creatively

"From the start, Helen has always made me feel at ease. She is kind, calm, patient, and professional. Our sessions take place in a lovely and safe environment. I am so pleased that I decided to invest in myself. I feel that Helen is always by my side encouraging, supporting and challenging me. Thank you."

Outdoors

I am pleased to announce that I now offer outdoor sessions. Meeting outdoors in nature brings a richness to sessions. Being in nature is a great way to support wellbeing. You don’t have to be fit, we will walk at your pace or sit in nature, whichever fits for you. In your initial session, usually face to face in my therapy room, we can explore working outdoors and how it may work for you.
